(ISC)2® and the Information Security Professional

Since 1993, the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2 has been certifying the skills and experience of Information Security Professionals around the world.  Since then, the list of CISSPs has grown from an original 135 to more than 42,000 professionals in 110 countries, making the CISSP the largest and most respected Information Security certification on the planet.  Jim Molini, a member of the (ISC)2 Advisory Board of the Americas, will talk about the range of certification options, including: CISSP, SSCP, and CAP. He will also discuss the (ISC)2 response to DODD 8570 and consortium plans for supporting the professional development needs of Information Security practitioners.

James Molini, CISSP, The MITRE Corporation

Mr. Molini is a Principal Information Security Engineer with the MITRE Corporation, providing strategic security advice to a variety of US federal government agencies. In his 24 years as an information security professional he founded a multi-national information security services firm, served as Vice President of Data Security at a large US bank, and was the Computer Security Coordinator for the Space Shuttle’s Flight Software Development team.  Mr. Molini holds a B.A. in Economics and an M.A. in Computer Information Systems.  He is active in the CISSP certification program and is a member of the (ISC)2 Advisory Board for the Americas. In the 1990’s he served on the International Board of Directors for the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA).  In 2004, he received the (ISC)2 President’s Award for service to the information security profession.
